3-Day Watercolor Workshop

*To schedule a class, please fill go to Contact on the main menu * In addition to scheduling annual workshops in my studio, I am introducing a new workshop program for art groups or groups of friends. Pick your own dates, choose 3 days that suit your schedule and invite up to 6 friends to join you. -- If you have fewer people that can come, some of my regular local students would be happy to join your group. If you are considering this, please go to Contact on the main menu and we can reserve some dates. Cost of the 3 day workshop is $400 per person. Safety Measures: During the pandemic, class sizes are limited to half the usual amount of participants. For social-distancing, I have added an awning over the studio deck. All participants are required to be fully vaccinated. Class Description: My workshops are for all who want to gain a deeper understanding of the creative process of painting, are willing to be flexible, take risks, have fun, be intuitive and inventive. We will not be using rules and formulas however the emphasis will still be on concept, color and design. My inspiration comes both from nature and the inevitable unpredictability of the watercolor medium. Both abstract and realistic forms will be addressed. I present and demonstrate a different method or idea each day using several techniques to show how to construct original paintings from both source material and the imagination. Topics include controlling paint on wet paper, under-painting and layering. Critiques will approach problem solving upon the premise that there is always a solution that can turn an unsuccessful painting into a successful one.
